WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
One of the most important and challenging skills for tattoo artists to master is Shading and Lead Artist Jingxi is excited to meet other artists and pass down her knowledge.
Given the amount of skills needed to master Shading, our Shading program is designed to have 2 levels, each takes 5 days, with 1 a month gap in between. Artists have the choice to join Level 1 only or both Level 1 + Level 2.
The workshops will be located at our Studio: 185471/2 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, CA 91356.
In Shading Workshop Level 1, you will learn:
- Mag shading skills with techniques deconstructed
- How to make smooth shading and make it super clean
- Solidness, Depth, Shading direction, Cartridge size, Skin resistance, etc.
- Blending skills
- Skin damage by mag, what are bad shading habits, etc.
In Shading Workshop Level 2, you will learn:
- Dilution mixing & Grey wash blending
- How to use a Round shader, and how to mix using a mag together with liner and round shader
- How to make Textured Shade: sand shading/ smoke/ fur, etc.
- Apply mixed shading techniques to 1 complicated tattoo, e.g. portrait realism
- Real skin demonstration (if voted in)
- Q&A about any shading questions
Level 1 is designed for students to understand and practice all the shading foundations, and L2 is for putting all the skills together to make complicated tattoos, plus a few more advanced shading skills.
Level 1 attendees must have real skin tattoo experience or have taken the Patch Tattoo Therapy online training course for beginner tattoo artists.
The shop will provide fake skin, ink, and all disposables. All artists will need to bring their own tattoo machines and power supply.
